LIVRARIA LELLO SUGGESTS "THE POP COLLECTION”

LIVRARIA LELLO SUGGESTS "THE POP COLLECTION”

This month's suggestion from Livraria Lello is entirely dedicated to the new “The Pop Collection”!

Filled with stories and striking colors, the 43 titles of this new collection give the final touch to the last month of the year.

Since we cannot indicate all the books, we asked the booksellers of The World's Most Beautiful Bookshop to elect two titles. They are:

The Lusiads, by Luís Vaz de Camões

The Lusiads was one of the most epic poems written by Luís Vaz de Camões. Published in 1572, during the Portuguese Renaissance, it narrates the voyages of the Portuguese through "seas never before sailed”.
Helped by the Gods Venus and Mars and pursued by Bacchus and Neptune, the Lusitanian heroes face countless adventures, but are always gloriously and guided by the Christian faith.
The archaic language and the large amount of mythological and historical information present in the work may initially frighten the reader, but this is a must-read and is part of the History of Portugal.

Selected Grimm’s Fairy Tales, by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

At a time when fables were not intended for a children's audience, the Brothers Grimm sparked an interest in legends, fairy tales and folk stories with a university professor.
Tales such as "Snow White" or "Cinderella," now known from Walt Disney adaptations, are some of the stories you can find in the book Selected Grimm’s Fairy Tales but don't be fooled, because this is a version that tells the dark side of fairy tales.
