LIVRARIA LELLO EDIT THE LITTLE PRINCE IN UKRAINIAN TO HELP UKRAINE CHILDREN VICTIMS OF WAR

Solidarity campaign “Livraria Lello X UNICEF – READ FOR UKRAINE” transforms books into support for Ukrainian children. For each copy of The Little Prince in Ukrainian sold, Livraria Lello donates €10 to UNICEF. Books are already on pre-order.

A few days after the start of the war in Ukraine, Livraria Lello began preparing the launch of the Ukrainian edition of one of the most inspiring books of all time, and one of the best sellers in its collection of classics of Literature – The Little Prince. In an edition made exclusively by Ukrainian nationals - translation, pagination and proofreading were in charge of Ukrainian professionals, who did the work while experiencing, in the first person, the escalation of the conflict. Two months later, the assault on Ukraine continues, making this issue and the support it mobilizes even more vital.

The one that is recognized as the Most Beautiful Bookstore in the World is now announcing a solidarity action to support the world's main humanitarian agency working for the promotion and defense of children's rights, UNICEF, which will transform these books into concrete help for Ukrainian children. Together, they launched the “READ FOR UKRAINE” campaign, under which, for each copy of The Little Prince in Ukrainian sold, Livraria Lello donates €10, which will be used by UNICEF to support Ukrainian children.

“Because it tries daily to contribute to a fairer, more dignified, more inclusive and more sustainable world, Livraria Lello could not remain indifferent to the devastating humanitarian consequences of the war in Ukraine”, explains the administrator of Livraria Lello, Aurora Pedro Pinto. “With this action, we want to show that a book can be a powerful weapon for good, as well as a safe haven for realities that are too difficult to face”, she adds.

The Little Prince in Ukrainian is now available for pre-order at Livraria Lello's online store [HERE] and our hope is that our sympathetic readers will sell out this solidarity edition of 1,000 copies by May 24, the day we wish the war to be already “only” a terrible past. This day, three long months after the start of the War in Ukraine, was the date chosen for the signing of the protocol between Livraria Lello and UNICEF. It is also on May 24 that copies of the book arrive at Livraria Lello.

The amount raised under the campaign “Livraria Lello X UNICEF – READ FOR UKRAINE”, will be entirely applied by UNICEF in the projects that the organization is implementing to support children victims of the war in Ukraine.

About UNICEF and its action in Ukraine:
