ENTRANCE TO LIVRARIA LELLO

Enrique Vila-Matas is Livraria Lello's author of the month for November

Enrique Vila-Matas
Livraria Lello is honored to announce Enrique Vila-Matas as its November Author of the Month. On Friday, November 3, at 9 p.m., the acclaimed Spanish writer will be at the Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World for a memorable talk about his literary career. The moderator will be José Mário Silva, writer, journalist and literary critic.

Enrique Vila-Matas is one of the most prestigious names in contemporary literature and the most praised by national and international critics, recognized with numerous awards, including the Ulysses Prize (France) in 2017 and the International Prize for Literature (Spain) in 2022.

His most recent novel, Montevideo, the thirty-ninth in his literary oeuvre, is an exercise in his ability to explore the boundary between reality and fiction through geographical, aesthetic and stylistic wanderings.

Vila-Matas' literature is a virtuoso fusion of essay, journalistic chronicle and novel, characterized by its fragmentary and ironic approach. Since the start of his career in 1973, his works have been translated into thirty-nine languages, captivating readers all over the world.

The Catalan writer's visit to Livraria Lello as Author of the Month coincides with the international distinction awarded to the iconic bookshop. In 2023, Livraria Lello was officially voted The Most Beautiful Bookstore in the World by the global platform One Thousand Libraries, the largest online community of library and bookstore fans. Interestingly, it was Vila-Matas himself who first called it The Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World in an article published in El País in 2006.

The session is free, subject to registration. It will also be possible to watch the event via livestreaming on Livraria Lello's Facebook page.
