Ágatha Ruiz de La Prada launches her biography at Livraria Lello
Designer and international reference Ágatha Ruiz de La Prada is launching her biography A Minha História in Portugal. On December 5, at 9 p.m., the author will present her book at the Most Beautiful Bookshop in the World.
Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada was born in Madrid in 1960. She studied at the Escuela de Artes y Técnicas de la Moda in Barcelona and, at the age of 20, began working as a trainee in designer Pepe Rubio's studio. A year later, she presented her first collection in Madrid at the LOCAL design center. Since then, her designs have been shown in international fashion capitals such as Paris, Milan, New York, Berlin, Madrid, and Barcelona, making her an honored guest and representative of Spanish fashion on the main catwalks around the world.
In 2017, she received the 2017 National Fashion Design Award from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, in recognition of her more than 30 years of experience and her ability to link her work in fashion to other manifestations of the arts.
Since 1986, Ágatha Ruiz de La Prada's company has collaborated on more than 100 fashion accessories licenses. Ceramic tiles, bedding and household linen, books, pet accessories, perfumes and stationery are examples of the many products distributed through Ágatha's flagship stores and her online store, as well as various multi-brand stores around the world.
In her biography, the artist shares "I'm Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, designer, one of Movida's muses, Marquesa de Castelldosríus, Baroness of Santa Pau and Grand of Spain. I love working and making plans. My brand has been a success for over thirty years. My designs are recognized all over the world and have been shown on the best catwalks. I think that in almost every home there has been a product with a fuchsia heart, or a flower created by me. I'm a feminist. I was one of those responsible for ending the law that discriminated women against men in the succession of noble titles. I've had a relationship with power ever since I was born. At one point, I saved a man from social ostracism. Then I saved myself from living in the shadows because I was a woman and over forty. Now I'm anything but an invisible woman. This is the story I never told."
