Monday, November 11, 2019
Livraria Lello welcomes Alfredo Cunha and Maria Antónia Palla to present their book “The Time of Women“, on November 16th at 9:30pm.
Next Saturday, November 16th at 9:30 pm, Livraria Lello welcomes Alfredo Cunha and Maria Antónia Palla to present their book “O Tempo das Mulheres“, in a conversation with Bárbara Pulhosa, from Tinta-da-China Editions, and the authors.
This book brings together about 400 photographs taken by Alfredo Cunha, over 50 years in over 20 countries. To accompany this tribute to women, the author invited Portuguese journalist and historical feminist Maria Antónia Palla, who wrote unpublished texts, contributing to this reflection in the feminine, from the historical evolution of women's rights to gender inequality in different economic, political and social contexts.
"We are women or men, by a game of chance, from the moment of conception. But it is not that fact that unites us women. We live in different hemispheres, in continents, unequal countries and societies, we have our own life paths.
The inequality that separates us does not depend on the color of the skin, the language we speak, the dress we wear, or even our age. What makes us different is the culture, the traditions, whether we have rights or not. None of this is up to us. What makes us different is whether we are free or not." - Maria Antónia Palla
Free entrance, limited to space capacity.
